what would happen if, say, you found your rubber/prop combo...but you don't have that measurement of rubber, and the rubber you're using is off by .0015?

i guess the real question is how important is it to have the exact combo?

The right prop and rubber combo is very important, and can often be the difference in winning the gold medal versus being uncompetitive. Winning the gold medal also requires a good design, well built, and trimmed correctly. Plus proper winding is critical. I'm just an ameteur compared to Chris and Iceman. They can explain it much better. Last year, our plane was a gram overweight, and it was too late to build a new one. It wouldn't climb with 3/32. We switched to 7/64 rubber. The plane climbed just fine, but we couldn't get 2000 winds in.

One and a half thousanths of an inch? It probably wouldn't matter as much for these planes. .015(fifteen thousanths) would matter more.

Yeah, and there's about a hundred other variables that are more important. If you're really worried, tweak your prop pitch in the appropriate direction.

Back is up and tilted toward outside of circle both have to be done.

Yeah, many do a VERY SLIGHT up angle is safe even desireable. Anything higher creates problems trimming the model from stabilizer adjustments, back down enough.

Side ways angles are dangerous also. If there is a bow in the boom wood angle the back end bowing needs to be toward inside of circle. This will help with the turn of plane by pointing tail rudder toward outside of circle. If there is a bow in boom pointing at outside of circle drag will cut flight times drastically even if adjustments are made to stab and rudder.

My plane can fly as wide or narrow a circle as needed for the site with simple fast rotation of the boom. It will not fly at peak efficiency in all size circles without making other adjustments like thrust bearing angle, wing wash, rudder angle and more.
