I'm not sure how angling it away from the motor could add any more weight than angling it toward the motor.

You don't know how I do it. Do you?

No... thus the use of "not sure."

As I understand, you are better than us, but if you care to share how you do it and where you are running into problems, we may be able to help...

I put my blades on one CD. I glue about 5 pieces of balsa on the left side of the top and about 5 on the right. then i glue the Cd with the blade on. It ads to much weight :!:

Ok, I'm not quite getting your verbal description. What size balsa are you using? What do you mean by 5 on the left and 5 on the right?

What I do is I mount my blades on one side of the CD with a little piece of 1/16x1/16 balsa to prop it up on an angle. This way they don't fall back behind the CD and hit the motor, and it is also quite lightweight.

Sorry for not being clear. it is 1/16 thick balsa. the 5 are glue on top of each other and place between the CDs.

It looks something like this.
(Blades)________CD_________(Blades)
Nothing wood----------wood
Nothing wood----------wood
Nothing wood----------wood
_______________CD_______________

Ok, I assume your blades get bigger in the middle? If you want to keep that design, I would suggest that you make it get bigger only on one side. That way you angle the bigger side up and so it doesn't fall behind the blade. A lot of people have seen success with blades that get thinner as they go to the tip, and so you could also try one of those if you want.

The blades were accually rectangles. I told you it wasn't very good

Ok, then I suppose you would just have to use a piece of wood to prop it up on one CD. Put it closer to the edge of the blade to get a higher angle and further to get a lower angle. This way it should stick up out of the CD rather than falling behind it.

For those who are getting very high voltages, how are you keeping your fan from flying off the setup?

If they are getting very high voltages, their blades are probably well balanced, and so very stable even when spinning at very high speeds.

What are some tips in balancing it? Like, sticking some stuff behind the cd?

What are you (addressing all who are on Physical Science Lab B division) putting in your binder? Are you just "throwing" printed out notes/information into it or are you actually taking a website/textbook article and taking out important pieces and collaborating that into your binder?

In other words, are you making a binder full of notes or a binder with only a selective bit of information?

Are you guys focusing more on the binder/information part or the blade part? why?

It depends on what's your strength. I'm a study person so I focused on the studying, and even though our combined was 600-something, we still got 3rd. However, if you prefer building, then I would focus on that. Just not exclusively so you have an idea on the studying.
