What I mean is, my team had a really good catapult last year but it probably won't fit into the 70cm cube this year. So are there any effective ways to make it smaller so I don't have to build a new one? (Yes, I'm lazy.)

Saw off 7/10 (or whatever the proportion is) of each member, tubing, spring, arm, etc. Even then, like Starpug said, it probably won't perform the same, and it won't work if all the pieces are glued together. Remember to saw each piece down, otherwise it won't work.

I think that the best thing to remember when building the event is to be as OCD about being exact as possible; you can never measure something too exact or drill a hole as straight. By eliminating common errors from constructing the device half-baked, you can get great data with your device that will make the event less stressful overall come competition time.

Hope that helped a little...

Yeah, I'm going to listen to starpug and build a new one. I was hoping I didn't have to, though because it's a lot of work and because me and saws, screwdrivers, etc. don't get along well.

All my measurements where in ft, I was really thrown off when the people told me the target was 3 METERS away. so remember, 1 meter (almost) equals 1 yard. :)

I'm officially in Trajectory this year. I'm excited!

Anyways, if we use a screwdriver with a string attached as the pin to hold the arm in place and our launch mechanism is simply to yank it out, would that be a violation of the rules, specifically the part that says "the triggering device must not pose a danger to anyone due to flying parts or excessive movement outside the launch area"?

Edit: I just noticed the best possible score for Trajectory this year is -200. That's sort of weird.

Read the rules. It tells you what you can and can't use.

If you read the rules, you'll see that they say you can use any non-metallic elastic solid.
Please read Forum Rule #2:

You can start by reading the first post in the thread, look through those links then read the rest of the thread. If this thread was 50 pages I would understand not looking through it, but when it's 4 pages you should read the entire thread before posting something like "How do I make a catapult" or "What design should I use."
