Ohio 2010

Postby scienceolympiadist on Mon Aug 03, 2009 10:34 am

This thread will be about Ohio for the 2009 - 2010 season. Ohio looks to preserve its dominance in the National stage, coming off a year in which it claimed both the Div B and Div C titles.

I think that the div. C will def. be between Centerville, Solon, and Mentor. It's hard to imagine someone else sneeking in but there's always a chance.

As for div. B, I think that Solon and Chardon are the teams to beat. WLS, Magsig, Copley, and Watts will have to work really hard to try and get into the top 2 and on to nationals.

Magsig will probably make it next year.

B:
Solon has the national title again this year.

The battle is for 2nd place at state:
WLS, Copley, Magsig, Chardon, and Watts. No clue who will make it.

I don't think Magsig needs to work as hard as you make it out to be. Of course they need to work, but it's not like they're really far behind Chardon. Wasn't it only because Magsig did horribly in Pentathlon why they missed out on nats?

I think that Magsig might have a chance but I still think that Chardon is the clear favorite over them. Magsig got 33rd in pentathalon sure but didn't Chardon get a 34th along with like a 22nd and a 21st in scrambler because of a fluke accident. No, Magsig may have a chance but they are going to have to really push hard to even think of going to nationals. WLS is bound to make a run this year. Last year they saw how hard states was and they are definetely looking to improve this year. Copley really snuck up on Div B last year and I thought they had it after placing in so many events at the beginning. Finally, Watts, the other Centerville school is bound to show up big this year. After 2 6th in a row and a new head coach, they are bound to really "up it" this year! Well good luck to all!! :D

What place did Copley get last year? I remember they got Top 5 2 years ago (4th?)...

I remembered that Copley came out of nowhere. However, their C Division team isn't that good.

yes, many teams don't do as well in div. C as they do in B. However, schools like Solon and Centerville (div. B=magsig/watts) seem to stay on top of things.

If Magsig goes into Solon High, does Solon Middle do the same? That would make Solon High loaded.

Ohio hosts arguably the most competitive invitational tournaments in the country.

I haven't really been out-of-state to make a valid comparison.
